Jersey Demic – Crying and Smile

In 2011 Jersey Demic did a song about Suicide prevention.  The song is called “Crying and Smiling”  You can listen to the song above.  Suicide prevention is a serious subject.  We have people from all walks of life who commit suicide.  The most recent celebrity who we believed to have committed suicide is NFL all pro linebacker Junior Seau.   There are various suicide hotlines that people can call, if they are contemplating anything as dangerous as suicide.  Suicide prevention can be seen early because there are a lot of signs.  Most people can be spotted out as depressed, down, or lethargic.  Other signs include: always talking about death, low self esteem, and difficulty dealing with life’s pitfalls.  Several NFL players have committed suicide due to what we believe to be dimentia.  The trauma caused from repeated blows to the head are to much to live with for some people.  I mention this because a good amount of the time, suicide is more than just someone just feeling down and out.  At times it is a true medical concern which will need to be treated by a physician.  Remember suicide is not something which is relegated to one type of people.  It doesn’t discriminate on race, gender, or social status.  Keep your eyes open and always let your family and friends know that you are hear to talk to them.

Interview w/ Jersey Demic:

Interviewer: How are you today?

Jersey Demic: I’m doing good, all things considering

Interviewer: Have you heard about the Junior Seau suicide?

Jersey Demic: Yes, it’s sad news.  Sometimes we just need someone to talk to.  And if you don’t get that you may feel like an outsider and go crazy.

Interviewer: What do you mean?

Jersey Demic: Basically we all need things we can relate to, if we don’t have anything or anyone who can understand us then we have no ground to stand on.  It can make you go crazy, it’s why people love music so much.  Because even in your darkest hour, the lyrics will let you know that you aren’t the only one going through something.  And if you know someone else is or has gone through something and has gotten through it, then you have the chance to also.

Interviewer: That’s interesting, how come you haven’t spoken on suicide prevention in the past?

Jersey Demic: Oh, but I have.  Last year I put out a message to all of my fans to let me know what they needed.  And if there was anything I could do in my power to help that I would.  I did that so that if anyone was contemplating suicide then they may have reached out to me as a last option.  Then maybe I could’ve got them some help.  I got some very interesting stories and I was amazed by how resiliant my supporters are.

Interviewer: What advice do you have for anyone going through these detrimental emotions?

Jersey Demic:  For suicide prevention I say talk to someone who you respect, who you care about and who cares about you.  Remember how much they are going to suffer without you here.  If you don’t think you have anyone who cares about you, then come to me.  I will talk to you, I want you here, I will help you, I will love you, I will trust you.

Interviewer: That’s really a great thing to do and say for the people.  Where can they catch you?

Jersey Demic: They can log onto Facebook and send me a direct message on there.  I will respond pretty fast, then if we need to take it off of Facebook we will.
